Hi, You have asked "which is base material?" and the reply was given. But if you want to qualify the welder,You can AISI4130 pipe with Inconel625 overlay-3 layers minimum. The welder is qualified to weld Inconel to AISI4130 overlay and Inconel. Also the QW453-Note 1 to be followed for Welder Qualification. For processes (performance qualification only) depositing a weld bead width greater than 1⁄2 in. (13 mm) wide, the weld overlay shall consist of a minimum of three weld beads in the first layer." Thanks & Regards,

Gents, I have confused on the above topic, could some one clarify the below situation 1) 21" ID ,Pipe (AISI 4130 ) cladded by INconel 625 with thickness of 1.5 mm with qualified Welding Procedure in other company. 2) We need to overlay the above item 1 , by inconel 625 on the existing Inconel 625 3) If i want to qualify the welder, i need to consider the Inconel 625 as base metal or AISI 4130 as base metal ? Pls share your exp, in as this kind of situation Thanks & regards,
K.Babu
