RE: [MW:6747] Comparison between CP189 and SNT-TC-1A 2006 edition

I'm working in a project where the client ask for follow ASNT recomendations for PND technicians. The subcontractor is APPLUS RTD and they have showed certifications with canadians and european organizations. Should we ask them ASNT certifications for their technicians?

* CP-189 is a STANDARD and SNT-TC-1A is a RECOMMENDED PRACTICE. CP-189 has requirements that must be met whereas SNT-TC-1A recommendations can be modified to met the needs of the employer. A couple of key points for comparison:
- SNT-TC-1A has 3 levels of qualification (Level I, Level II, Level III)
- CP-189 has 6 levels of qualification (Trainee, Level I, Level II, Level II Limited, Level III, NDT Instructor)
- CP-189 requires the Level III to hold a current ASNT certificate in the method
- CP-189 requires training of Level I and Level II personnel by a qualified NDT Instructor
