[MW:1566] Re: API 1104> Qualification of Repair Procedure

Dear Mr. Babu,

I'm not sure what API says about welding procedures but most
specifications apply same rules for repair procedures as for standard
Procedure Qualifications.
This means that the change from downhill (5GD) to uphill (5GU) is an
essential variable this means you have to re-qualify when changing
welding position.
Because you are using similar filler metal for the hot pass you may
use the first qualification for that if the difference in Heat Input
for the hot pass does not exceeds the limit specified in the API.
Most regulations specify max. allowed differences of +/- 15 %
An other problem is the use of an other fillermetal for fill passes as
in the repair procedure you qualified. I don't know the API 1104 and
therefore i'm not sure if this is a separate group for API, if so than
you have to re-qualify for this reason as well.

Best Regards,

Herman Pieper
