[MW:1588] Re: Mix up of A106 Gr.B and A336 Gr.6 pipes

Dear Mr. Reddy,

the mechanical properties of the two steel grades differ, significantly . It might be worth a try to distinguish between them using portable hardness testing like Equotip or Krautkrämer.

Best of luck,

Dear Friends,

When A106 Gr.B and A336 Gr.6 pipes are physically mixed up and mill identification/ stencilling was lost during painting on external surface. Since both are CS materials, segregation by PMI (i.e by X-Ray spectrometer or by Gamma ray) is not possible.

Is there any other NDE method to segregate/ identify them to the respective material specification.

Regards,
T S Reddy
