[MW:5094] Re: corrosion resistant plating

Dear Mr. Majdnia,

If a Air Receiver need to be painted depends completely on the
customers requirements. For example Shell mostly requires 300-350 µm
epoxy coating at the inside in order to prevent any corrosion caused
by high air humidity, especially if such air receiver is in front of a
expensive compressor.
To ensure that this coating doesn't come off Shell requires a special
pull off test for each serial coating system / material combination.
I'm not sure but I think that all these requirements are laid down in
Shell DEP 31.40.30.32.gen. This specification also specify the
requirements for surface preparation in order to ensure proper
adhesion.

Best Regards,

Herman Pieper
