Re: [MW:32336] Please do your homework before sending questions to the group

I know, but someone has to give you an answer, maybe many of them keep silence and caution, it is not my case.

Dear Mr. José Juan Jiménez Alejandro,

I do not know why you felt it is addressed to you.
This is a general message...

--------------------------------------------------------

But let's get back to the subject matter...

We have been in this situation before and it was sorted out.
But as I said, every once in a while, we see it happening again;
which is unfortunate...

This is a professional group and all the group members are expected to act accordingly...
Being respectful is not only about using nice words; sometimes people disrespect each other by their actions...
  • Whenever anyone has a question, it is common sense that he/she does some research before taking other people's time. Anyone who can send an email to the group, obviously has access to websites like Google and almost in all cases, the answers could be easily found with a simple search. Of course, we all would be glad to help but this is the least a person can do to show his respect for the other group members.
  • Please do your own research first; you will find most of the answer online. If there was any area that required more clarification, send your question to the group and our senior members are here to help you out.

Other members' time is as valuable as ours;
It is not respectful to expect others to do the things that we can easily do by ourselves...
This is basic ethics...

  • The other issue is question like "Please send me a WPS with all the required information and documents necessary for this or that"...
This is a whole new level of disrespectful behavior...
When you see such questions, you can be 100% sure that the person who has sent the question is trying to take advantage of the positive attitude of the group members.

How would you feel if your colleague does the same to you at work...?
Constantly coming to you with a very polite "sir, thank you very much sir", leaving his own work on your desk so you do it for them...?
This is not acceptable...

Everyone knows what's the deal with these questions...
But they do not say anything out of politeness...
They do not want to create an unpleasant atmosphere...

But we have all worked hard to be here...
We are not here to be taken advantage of...
Our esteemed members have not build this group to "Serve" lazy individuals...
We help each other here but it does not mean that people could bring their work here so that others do it for them...

I hope we would never have to bring up this issue again...
This is an old and friendly group of professionals...
Many of us have been here for more than 10 years...
Our friendship is longer than many friendships in the "real" world...
We all respect each other and intend to keep this group in the best shape as long as possible...
as it has been the case through all these years...

Kind regards

I want to assume that it is for the whole group, I do not remember having asked any questions to the members of the group on any occasion, I always investigate on my own, I generally have the codes, norms, standards and if I do not have them then I do a search In the net.
But if I have observed that some want their work problems to be solved and that does not seem entirely correct to me, however, I do not have any moral authority of any kind to oppose the freedom they have to express their doubts in a group like this.
Greetings!.

I think you have to take his comment with a little bit of salt.. there is no harm in asking but what might seem basic to us won't be the case for another .. Plus If there is like a search option with keyword so that we can search if the grades in our question has already been answered by someone before it would be nice . I haven't used this feature in groups so cannot confirm.

Unfortunately, every every once in a while, we see this unethical behaviour from some new members...

Please do some research before sending questions...
Group members will be glad to help but you should not take advantage and expect the group members to do all the work for you...

This is the group policy...
