Re: [MW:27942] ISO 15614 -1 (base metal and weld metal Qualification thickness)

Process 1 &2

Range of base metal and weld metal are same.

in 2 case
Deposited weld for GTAW-5mm, SMAW-10mm
Range Of base metal and weld metal
GTAW--- 2.5mm to 10mm
SMAW---5mm to 20mm.

since your base metal is 15mm which is greater than 12 mm, u should not use case 1. pl see again Table 5.

Dear experts

As per ISO 15614  ... Table 5

PQR plate thickness is 15 mm

Case 1:

For GTAW, deposited thickness is 5 mm .     So qualified range is from to 10 mm (multi-run).
For GMAW, deposited thickness is 10 mm .   So qualified range is from 3 to 20 mm (multi-run).

For thickness of base metal, acc. to ISO 15614-1, table 5 is 3 to 30mm. weldmetal qualified thickness also 3 to 30 mm

Case 2:

For GTAW, deposited thickness is 5 mm .
For GMAW, deposited thickness is 10 mm.

For thickness of base metal, acc. to ISO 15614-1, table 5 is 7.5 to 30mm

Please answer which case is correct case1 or case 2??

Please give explanation?

Regards

Selas
