Re: [MW:27661] Stainless steel (SA 312 TP 316L) welding

Hello prasad,

No need to do ferrite testing for SA 312 TP 316 L Welding, because this all are austenitic stainless steels.
Ferrite testing is applicable for Duplex stainless steel because it is a ferritic steels.

For SA 312 TP 316 L Welding procedure you have to do IGC practice E or it may as per client requirements.

If any thing wrong,  I am apologies for the same.

Rajendra

Dear sir,

I am going to do PQR for SA 312 TP 316L pipe to pipe of 6" and 7.11mm thickness.

I want to know that, i have to go for ferrite testing or not ?

If not, when it is essential to ferrite testing?
