Stellite6 contains high amount of alloying elements. Melting and even distribution of these alloys , in low heat put process like STT, would be a serious problem. Hence conventional high energy process e.g. Plasma PTA or GTAW or SMAW would be preferred depending on the component hard-faced.
Minor cracks' in Stellite -6 deposit are common. However could be minimized as suggested by Kannayeram Gnanapandithan
