Re: [MW:27426] Use of Flux wire combination for SAW welding

Hello Dr. Georgios,

Thank you so much. Can you share what additional information can I provide to get precise answer to my question. I am attaching a photograph of flux manufacturer markings. Both, flux and wire are classified in Section II-C

I guess you are referring to QW 404. I have already checked it and what I understand is that there is no technical issue in that but I just want to make sure compliance with code.

Hope I have clarified.

Regards,
Ankur

the info you are giving is not sufficient. I would suggest that you read carefully QW-409 and QW-410 in ASME IX.
You start by looking for if this flux is classified in Section II-C

Hello Experts,

In SAW welding; My WPS (as per ASME SECTION IX) calls for F7A6-EH12K combination but my flux supplier has provided me F7A6-EH10K rated flux. Is this acceptable?
Flux supplier says that as it is already tested with lower manganese level wire hence it qualifies for use with EH12K wire also which possess higher manganese and silicon.

Can someone guide me on this?
