No it's wrong practice.
Please follow your approved PT procedure for removal of excess penetrant.
Use lint free cloth and remove excess penetrant  with max 3 to 4 dry wiping.
Then use solvent moistened cloth for final wiping.
Only unidirectional wiping is allowed.

During pt examination on weld we are using wire brush wrapped with cloth to remove penetrant from the grooves of weld passes.
Can anybody reply. Is it correct practice?
With ref to code and std.
