[MW:25587] Re: 2.2 & 3.1 MTC

Dear Kumar,

All the welding consumable manufacturers follow the same criteria in providing 3.1 MTCs which is in line with the requirements of EN 10204.

Further, if the purchaser asks for certain test results to be included in the 3.1 TC, the same needs to be mentioned in the welding consumable specification (WCS) at the time of making the purchase order. In only such case, the MTC will consists of the actual values for that particular batch which is tested for tests mentioned in the WCS. This is mutually agreed in between the manufacturer and purchaser.

As mentioned by others also, the general practice is to give actual chemical test results in 3.1 TC and typical guaranteed values of mechanical test.

Also, providing the typical values for mechanical does not imply that the product quality is inferior, since it is controlled by the internal quality management system of every consumable manufacturer.

Hope this helps.

Dear Experts,

Greetings.

Requesting the views on MTCs (EN 10204 ) for electrode  ( SFA/AWS A
5.1 E 7018-1 H 4 R, 4.00mm). In fact according to project spec. it
should be 3.1. but the contractor could only provide 3.1 for chemical
& mechanical 2.2 in a single MTC.

Since its a deviation from the spec., how far this will affect the
quality of the product when mechanical according to 2.2 & chemical
according to 3.1? how this could be convinced to the end user.

Your valuable feedbacks are appreciated.

thanking in advance,
Kumar.
