You can not overlook client's specifications i.e. minimum 9% Ni. even the test results are up to the mark.
Still, if the test results (mechanical ,chemical) are meeting the requirements, you put a deviation/concession request (by mentioning consumable Ni content minimum, you intend to use) and proceed with your client approval. Then, there is no need to change anything again in production welding.

Thus, we seek your advice on this matter whether or not if there is any significant effect on the weldment quality or mechanical testing such as tensile strength,charpy impact test, bend test, hardness, ferrite count , etc. As we refer to ASME II section C specification, the chemical composition requirements for nickel is between 7.5 – 9.5 which we definitely comply with ASME requirements. During WPQT we using 8.6% nickel content and our result for charpy impact exceed the 40J average value as per client requirement. Please help me to convinced our client for consider this consumable because these consumable can give same mechanical properties as per 9% nickel content. We also plan to using 9% nickel content during production.
