Dear Abhram, Current calculation for different size of electrode the formula is Current = ( Size of Electrode x 40 ) ± 20. Eg. 3.2 X 40 = 128 ± 20 Amps Regards. A.J.Khan

I need to make a WPS as per ASME SEC IX & Construction Code is ASME B31.3 PQR : 12" 42 THK Material : SA335 P22 Process : GTAW + SMAW Actual Filler Wire Used in PQR : 3.2 mm Dia Rod ( Amps : 100 ~ 125 , Volts : 23 ~ 26 , Travel Speed : 10 ~ 15 Cm / Min ) But in our site we are using 2.4mmm , 3.2 mm , 4.0 mm Dia Filler Rods I want to make a WPS mentioning Current , Volt , Travel speed for this 2.4 mm & 4.0 mm Rod also . What basis and Which clause I can get consequent A , V & TS ? By below clause we can support our WPS but cant get the value for A , V & TS . (i) 404.3 Change in Size of Filler metal is Non Essential Variable (ii) 409.8 Change in I & E Range is an Non Essential Variable (iii ) 409.1 Heat input increase in Supplementary Essential Variable . My case no need Impact Testing Thanks and Regards A.P.Abraham , Qatar . -- To post to this group, send email to materials-welding@googlegroups.com To unsubscribe from this group, send email to materials-welding+unsubscribe@googlegroups.com For more options, visit this group's bolg at http://materials-welding.blogspot.com/ The views expressed/exchnaged in this group are members personel views and meant for educational purposes only, Users must take their own decisions w.r.t. applicable code/standard/contract documents.
