Re: [MW:12217] Welding of 45 degree elbows without staggering weld seam

What is your material...?

If the material is not susceptible to stress relief (like many stainless steels), you can submit a TQ and suggest to carry out stress relief for both parts and then proceed to weld...

Dear Friends,

Got a case where 2 nos 45 degree elbows are to be welded together and both long seams are coinciding without any staggering.

There is no provision for welding a pipe piece due to space restriction.

Code is ASME/ANSI B31.3

Size is 28" dia x 60 mm thick.

Joint will be covered by PWHT and NDT is Phased array UT before and after PWHT.

Can we do this as per code?

If yes with what clause/section etc.

Please share your opinions.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Best Regards

T.V.Ramakrishna.
