Re: [MW:11280] simulation cycle for PQR

Dear Azmi,
As per ASME Sec-IX, If you are conducting a PQR with 3 cycles, the hardness value will be less than what you get in 1 cycle.
Since the PWHT is the process requirement, Hardness will definitely comes in to the picture where you have to prove that your welding after 1 cycle will give the expected hardness values as required. If the hardness comes more than the required after 1 cycle, you will be in trouble as you are not conducting the PQR after 1 Cycle.
So its better to prove your PQR with 1 Cycle and 3 cycle SPWHT.

Dear All,

Greetings.

A Vessel  of CS MATERIAL, 10 thk, is  having Simulation ( 3 Cycles PWHT)  requirement. PWHT soaking time for the vessel is  2 hours.PWHT is Service  Requirement.

construction code - ASME sec VIII Div 1.

Whether PQR Should have  3 Cycles PWHT or Single cycle PWHT only.

Thanks and Regards
