Re: [MW:11549] Dilution

Dear sir,
You can use Line Scan method to calculate and investigation on dilution.

Dear Maulik,

The formula which u have given is correct. But for % of element in weld metal will vary bead by bead. And also for which element shall we calculate? Because element wise laso dilution will change. So in this case what should be taken as reference?

Dear Vicky,

Dilution= [% of a element in base metal (by PMI/by TC)-% of a element in weld metal (by PMI/by Chemical testing)-%of a element in filler wire (got it by TC/SEC IIC)] whole divided by % of a element in base metal.

Then deduct product from 1 & multiply product to 100.

Dear sir,
How to measure dilution in Electroslag Strip Cladding (ESSC)? From macrophotograph it is possible to measure are of diluted base metal and total overlay area. But how to check dilution by chemistry method? How much is percentage dilution expected in ESSC? With higher strip width does dilution changes? What will be effect of base metal thickness on dilution? What are recommended base metal thicknesses for using 60 and 90 wide strips?
