Re: [MW:8751] With Backing & Without Backing (QW-433 )

Hi,
backing:
a material placed at the root of a weld joint for
the purpose of supporting molten weld metal so as to
facilitate complete joint penetration. The material may or
may not fuse into the joint.(Ex., Double welded groove, single welded groove with backing, backing may be of metal or ceramic)

Without backing: There is no material placed at the root of joint and molten weldmetal itself facilitate complete hoint penetration.(Ex.,Single welded groove-Single V,without any metal or ceramic at the root of a weldjoint)

Thanks & Regards,

(Karthik)
