PWHT above tempering temperature reduces the impact properties of thelow-ally steel,it may lead to stress-rupture failure in the hAZ area,if you are thinking of avoiding PWHT above tempering temperature you may go with temperature below 700deg,i.e 693-695 and prolong your soaking time .

hi friends, in our contract specification it says, pwht temperature should be less than tempering temperature of the material (ASTM A335 GrP-11). why is this requirement. our P11 pipes have tempering temperature of 700 deg celsius ,and as per our WPS pwht temp is 720 deg celsius.. So is it okay to do pwht at 720 deg celsius. will there be any problem if PWHT temperature exceeds tempering temperature
