Re: [MW:7448] Why IGC Samples of PQRs fail?

Dear Jignesh,

It is understood that SA 387 Grade 22 class 2(ferritic)  welded with Austenitic consumables. Request to share the location of test coupons and  the test results.

As informed, practice E carried out, were cracks observed on bent specimen? Was micorsturcture examination carried out ?

Since, the weld joint would be diluted with parent metal ( in this case P22 ) , is IGC testing  really required ? What is going to be proved if IGC passes or in other case fails ?

In extreme conditions,  IGC testing is required, establish undiluted thickness first, take IGC samples from undiluted weld joint, do the testing.

With Best Regards,
