Dear KK
No need to go for separate PQR.
Eventhough if you want to prepare separate WPS, you can support it with two PQRs.

Frnds,
Here our job is welding of spiral pipes by GMAW + SAW.
Root is continuos tack welded by GMAW & ID & OD WELDED BY SAW.For this we have separate WPS & PQR.
In spiral pipe we have coil joints weld(skelp joints)for that we are doing root & ID welding by SAW but OD welded by SMAW.For this we don't have separate WPS & PQR.Instead we have only SMAW wps/pqr.I mean no multiprocess WPS/PQR.
Now my question is DO we need to qualify a separate PQR for this coil joint(skelp joint welding)i.e SAW + SMAW.
OR is it possible TO prepare a separate WPS taking the support of GMAW + SAW PQR & also SMAW PQR?
Pls tell all your opinion in respect to ASME SEC IX.
THANKS,
KK
