Re: [MW:5757] Welding of SA 240 TP 410S material.

Rao,

410 material is martensitic stainless steel and 410S material is Ferritic stainless steel. These are basically 13CR stinless steel selected for certain service requirement. The P.No of 410S is P.No.7.

The preheat recommended for 410S is 10degC and the Interpass temperature is 260degC. It can be welded using E309L/Ni based electerode / 410 electrode. Normally PWHT can be waived if E309L electrode is used.

If you prefer to use 410 electrode, then a preheat of 150degC is recommended and the interpass temperatuure shall be 100 degC higher than the preheat.

Dear all,

Can any body share the experience in welding of SA240 TP410 Material.

I have a Vessel consists SA387 Gr.11 Cl.2 material cladded with SS410S.

Internal Piping material : SS410S thickness 10-15mm.

Construction Code : ASME SEC VIII Div.1.

Welds in SS410S will under PWHT of low Low alloy steel.

Need guidance in Preheat & interpass temperature of SS410 material welding (Consumable selected for welding of SS410S is 309L type).

regards

P.Rao
