Re: [MW:5740] RE: 5734] welding machine

Hi

Please refer BS 7570 -- code of practice for validation of arc welding equipments.
This standard gives guidance to:
manufacturers about the accuracy required from output meters fitted to the welding equipment and
end users (fabricators) who need to ensure that output meters provide accurate readings.

In short welding machines having output meters can be calibrated by checking the meter reading with a more accurate measuring device and adjusting the readings appropriately.

You cannot calibrate a welding power
source – you can only validate the output characteristics.

Use a conventional bench tester to
validate the voltage and amerage characteristics throughout the output curve.

Alternatively use a clamp-on
volt/amperage meter which has been calibrated to validate the output of voltage
and current at specific settings throughout the range of the output curve.
