[MW:3109] Re: Coating material for LTCS bolts on SS 304 flanges

Hi Prakash,

Since this its heat exchanger, the operating heat will dry up any moisture around the vicinity and the galvanic effect will keep to the minimum. We had used  alot of this similar bolting in the offshore environment.

Hi Nilesh,

How you can cote an fasteners using FBE coating? U need to re open the exchanger during maintanence or leakage pupose.

We need to know the the exchanger design perameters to deside on coating requirements, if it is working in normal atmospheric temperature we can cote with fluropolymer coating but this coating is generaly doing by manufacturer field application to be veriifed with manufacutere only.

If the exchanger working in high temperature we can coat with high temp silicone paints.

You can go for FBE ( Fusion Bonded Epoxy) coating for those bolts.
FBE coating is a good option. But check other parameters and the fluid if its affect the FBE material.

Dear all,

Can any one help me to find the coating material for A320 Gr L7 bolts and A 194 Gr 2 nuts on SS 304 Flanges. As i checked the galvonic series Zn/mg not recomnded.Presently this heat exchnger flange which is already installed at site.Any Solution,so that without disturbing the joint we can coat some material at site for controlling galvonic corrosion.

Please keep in mind that it is STHE body flange.

Your feedbacks very helpful for me in taking decision and appriciated.
