[MW:3377] RE: 3373] filler wire for copper

What type of copper it is, oxygen bearing or oxygen free? It is
difficult to weld oxygen bearing copper
Some times CuSi type filers are an added advantage due to its fluidity,
consult a consumable manufacturer with correct type/grade or UNS# of the
material

Helium (or He+Ar mixture) can be selected as a shielding gas because;
risk of oxide entrapment in the weld pool is greatly reduced and
provides deeper penetration

Preheating of the base metal is typically required to maintain the base
metal at welding temperatures without preheating, the high thermal
conductivity of copper results in excessive loss of heat away from the
weld zone.
