Dear Friends,
Connection with cable to pipe / tank is by means of thermit welding with thermit weld cartridges, and further to that epoxy will be used for sealing
Sequence of photos are attached for your reference.
Pic 1.
Removal of insulation on the pipe and for the cable.
Placing the cable on to the position and keeping thermit welding cartridge on the cable
Filling of gun powder in the cartridge
Pic 2
Firing of the gunpowder.
Cleaning of the weld debris.
Pic3
Placing of canopy on the cable and opened insulation spot.(100 mm dia PVC pipe piece)
Mixing of epoxy part A and part B as per manufacturer stds
Pouring the liquid epoxy in to the canopy’s.
Within 4-6 Hrs liquid epoxy will become hard and cathodic insulated.

Subject: Re: [MW:14800] Connecting of ICCP electrodes to the oil pipe
Dear Mr. Manpreet Singh Many thanks for your response… Actually, I am working as a consultant engineer in crude oil tank construction project in the south of Iraq. They ask me to design ICCP system for tanks and underground pipe. Up to my information connecting of silicon iron electrodes to the tank body was known. The problem is how to connect electrode cable to the underground pipe, I think they used a special procedure to do that…..So, would you please help me with an information about the standard method or any other method…. Accept my profound regards… Dr. Eng. Alaa A. Atiyah
