Dear sir,

So thickness is not the criteria for impact testing of structural materials? Need impact test on each heat number more than 6mm of thickness? Am I right?

Regards

Arvinda.

Dear Sirs,

The project requirements perhaps depend on design parameter but this has nothing to do with the requirements mentioned in material specification.

EN 10025 chapter 7.4.2.4 mentions that when Charpy impact tests need to be proven by tests on the materials delivered it should be agreed in front (purchase order) for material grades JR (Supplement requirement 9).

For material grades J0 it’s a standard requirement so every certificate should mention results of impact test (req. >27J at 0 °C) for this specific heat number and therefore material delivered with certificates without mentioning impact values should be rejected.

Dear Arvinda,

The Impact requirement depends on Design Parameter of the Project.

Please check whether Contract / Project Spec / Service calls for impact.

Thanks & Regards

Dear Experts,

For crosshead installation in jetty project, the following materials (37mm) are used.

Road way            - S355JO

Crosshead           - S355JR & S275JR

Pipe track            - S355JR

As per European structural steel standard EN10025 , for JR grade, Longitudinal charpy V-notch impacts 27J @20 degrees and for JO grade, Longitudinal charpy V-notch impacts 27J @ 0 degrees.

We received materials mill certificates w/o impact test.

My question is whether impact is mandatory for above grades or any criteria of thickness as per EN10025? Please mention with reference codes.

Your valuable suggestions are appreciated.

Regards

arvinda
