Re: [MW:12416] Impact test requirement for JO and JR grades in structural fabrication.

Dear all,

Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

Contractor insists CVN is applicable only beyond 100mm thickness for structural as per BS EN 10025-2 table 9 option 28. I'm not satisfied with that. In company specification, nowhere specified about impact. In company document, materials shall be as per BS EN 10025.

As per BS EN 10025-1 , CVN is required more than 6mm of nominal thickness.

My question is If they don't need CVN, why they are using such materials ? Also my recommendation is also CVN required for Jo and Jr grades. Any criteria based on thickness? .

Any reference plz. clarify.

Dear Experts,

For crosshead installation in jetty project, the following materials (37mm) are used.

Road way            - S355JO

Crosshead           - S355JR & S275JR

Pipe track            - S355JR

As per European structural steel standard EN10025 , for JR grade, Longitudinal charpy V-notch impacts 27J @20 degrees and for JO grade, Longitudinal charpy V-notch impacts 27J @ 0 degrees.

We received materials mill certificates w/o impact test.

My question is whether impact is mandatory for above grades or any criteria of thickness as per EN10025? Please mention with reference codes.

Your valuable suggestions are appreciated.

Regards

arvinda
