RE: [MW:31316] PWHT soak temperature variation

You can also verified microstructures of weldment, if its meet your requirement there is no issue.

What is governing thickness

Pl. calculate rate of heating as per ASME  SEC VIII

It shall not be more than the calculated rate of heating

Steady Slope etc are not addressed.

No issue as per as weldment/parent material properties are concerned

Dear Experts,

We have completed  post weld heat treatment of weld overlay in a large automatic programmer electrical furnace according to API6A and ASME Sec VIII Div.1, as per WPS heating rate shall be 100degree C per hour, so we have set heating rate from 300 to 600 degree C in 3 hours, however since its programme is computer controlled, we are reaching 100 degree C in 45 min instead of 1 hour and 15 min holding at each 100 degree progression, as per our customer heating rate shall have regular slope without any holding. Attached heat treatment chart for your review.

Please do advice does it have any effect on weldment properties and is any code governs or states heating rate slope shall be steady.
