Re: [MW:27054] Required electrode for A335 P11 # S316 material

Never weld austenitic filler on inconel as you will get fine fissures at the interface.
Don't go cheap, else you may regret later.

Is it advisable to weld Austenetic SS filler over Nickel base weldments?

It is better to use ER NiCr3 instead of Inconel 625 due to its 2nd hardening effect  at High Temperature

I suppose it is a Butt Joint. Hence PWHT is required for thickness greater than 13mm for P11 material. Butter the P11 side with ENiCrMo3 with the finished buttered thickness around 5mm, complete the buttering and perform PWHT on the P11 side and weld the remaning joint between buttered bevel & 316 using ENiCrMo3.

It depends on the Design Temperature and any PWHT   if Applicable.

Normally for Design temperatures above 315degC or when PWHT is Applicable

1. Choice one is to use ENiCrMo3(Alloy 625 based) butter the P11 side for around 6-8mm and perform the PWHT and weld the buttered end with the 316 using E309MoL/E309L when design temperature is less than 315degC else weld with ENiCrMo3.
