Dear Victor:

In our project we have similar requirements for Duplex and Super Duplex as James mentioned (regardless of thickness) where it requires impact test at -46 degC and results should demonstrate average of minimum 27J and no result less than 20J).

Impact test not required/cannot be performed if the thickness is below 2.5mm.

Check with Metallurgy Lab whether they can machine your sample with thickness 3.73mm and perform Impact.

If yes, then Impact test need to be performed at -46/-50degC for Duplex.

Subject: [MW:17738] Impact test- minimum thk requirement

Hi Experts,

Please explain what is the minimum thickness requirement of impact test.

Material: A790 S31803 pipe
Size: 1/2' Sch 80 (WT- 3.73mm)
Sour service

Question: Is it possible to do impact test on 3.73 thk?

Best Regards,
DV.George
