Dear Sir, Please find the Extracts of Clause T276.2 (a) of Article 2 of ASME Sec. V Ed. 2010. The thickness on which the IQI is based is the nominal single-wall thickness plus the estimated weld reinforcement not to exceed the maximum permitted by the referencing Code Section. Backing rings or strips shall not be considered as part of the thickness in IQI selection. The actual measurement of the weld reinforcement is not required. Basis on the above, you will have to select either Hole type IQI Designation 12 or 1A wire identity No. 5 or both you can place on the weld for judging better sensitivity. Thanks & regards, C. R. GANDHI (Manager- Q.A./ Q.C.)
