Re: [MW:11273] RE: 11202] Welding consumable for CD3Mn

Dear friend,

i think this are an important factors for the sa 516 gr 70 .the think that the lower value of alloying will definately affects its properties .The  max values are & observed too less than required definately it affects an properties.there are too variation in chrome . nickel % .
i will always ask an alloying near to max limits of the requirement . this alloying will affects my properties like corrossion resistance by chrome, zero temperature ductility by nickel , moly high temperature service ,cupper ductility  so if any will there may be we reject that material ,client always see nearest values of % value.

Dear All,
In a vessel we used SA 516 Gr. 70 Plate for Dished ends (12 Thk).
Chemical Analysis (Lab Tested) of Plate (values) observed are,

 Chromium          (0.018       Req. 0.34 max) ,
 Nickel                 (0.021       Req. 0.43 max),
 Molybdenum      (0.008       Req. 0.13 max),
 Copper               (0.013       Req. 0.43 max).
 Vanadium          ( Nil
 Niobium              ( Nil
 Titanium             ( Nil
Our customer is not accepting the material Since the above elements are much lesser than the specified.
We explained 1) since as per spec.only maximum values are specified it is acceptable.
                     2)  CE is within limit.
But he is not accepting the same.

What to do ? Please, help me.

Regards,

Vikas.
