T is thickness of material from test coupon, not thickness of weld deposited. It appears u use the deposited welding metal thk for GTAW to qualify base metal thickness range.

Hi,No, The qualified thickness range will be 5mm to 30mm (If impact test is not required). If you want to weld a 3mm thk, you have to qualify @ thk of less than or equal to 10mm.Cheers!RajOn Sat, Apr 23, 2011 at 11:33 AM, Zakaria ghrab <zakaria.ghrab@gmail.com> wrote:
Hi all,--
We have a PQR, 15 mm Thickness, welded 6mm GTAW, 9mm SMAW.
According ASME sect IX, table QW-451.1, the Qualified Thickness "T" of base metal qualified will be 1.5 mm to 30 mm and the deposit weld thikness GTAW will be 12 mm max "2xt".
Means if i have to weld pipe thick 3 mm i can't use this PQR, i'm right ?
