RE: [MW:8857] Welding between A106 Gr.B and API 5L Gr.B

What is your code of construction?
It is acceptable based on ASME Sec IX 2010 edition, however earlier editions of ASME i.e. before 2010, APL 5L B was assigned as S number 1, requalification was necessary then.

Note: thou it is not applicable in your present case, if you are using B31.3 and you have multiple grades API 5L each strength level requires requalification.

Subject: [MW:8853] Welding between A106 Gr.B and API 5L Gr.B

Dear All,

One of my contractor submitted and wps/pqr for approval for welding
between A106 Gr.B and API 5L Gr.B pipes.

The Wps is prepared newly for this project and PQR is from old
projects.

I reviewed and i found that the PQR is done for API 5L PSL1-Gr.B to
API 5L PSL1-Gr.B.

Is it possible to prepare the wps for A106 Gr.B and API 5L Gr.B pipes
based on the above PQR.

Please reply.

Thanks.
