No of passes doesn’t matter, as long as your T and t limits are within the boundary.

Can any one clarify,

 

We have appproved WPS Which is showing  8 passes, to cover the thickness of PQR apecimen (12.7 mm), But thickness range is 6.9mm to 19.1mm, We have production welding thickness is 18 mm,

 

So we need to do additional weld passes to cover the required thickness, approximately 12 passes in production welding

 

Kindly advice
