i think the heating the pipe isn't correct .it may occur sensitization.i think the dropping water play a good role ,that it's decrease the cooling rate in base metal,therefore the possibility of carbide cr decreases.

we were welding a ss316 pipe ,and there were some water drops so we heated it with gas cutting set to evaporate, was this correct or not? if not then why? can any one tell me what will be effect of heating on ss316 pipe.
