[MW:1324] Re: about heating of ss316 pipe

If you are applying the heat just to remove the moisture from the surface for a short time , it will not be a problem.
But If you are applying the heat for a longer time, as the mateial is not "L" grade, there is a high chances to form Cr-carbide at the grain boundaries & cr-carbide is brittle in nature.As the cr-carbide will form, there will be a Cr depleted area, which in terms reduce the anti corrosion property of the material.
