It could be poor design, why you need flanges in a buried pipeline?
Most cost effective will be coal tar wrapping

Dear Gentlemen, Good day to everyone. I have one dilema regarding some fittings to be welded to a pipe and will be buried 1.5 meter below grade surface. Is this right thing to done?
