[MW:8200] query for tempering temperature

Dear All,

Greetings.

Tempering of the shell/dished head plates  for material SA 387 GR12 CL 2 is required to be  carried out at 690 -  700 deg celcius  for 160 minutes.

During actual tempering heat treatment  the soaking temperature increased to  730 deg celcius and soaking time  incresed to 180 minutes.

Please inform me what will be the effect on mechanical properties of the material due to above increase in soaking temperature and time.

Code of construction is ASME SEC VIII DIV 1.

As per my understanding ASME code specifies only minimum temeperature and time. it does not mentioned maxium limit.

Based on the above facts can the above tempering heat treatment  can be accepted.

Thanks in advance for your valuable suggestions.

Regards

asad
