[MW:7667] RE: 7660] Welding on galvanized plates.

Hi Maroof,
 
Welding of galvanized steel should be done after stripping the paint, to the extent of at least 1" on each side of the weld bevel. Zinc evaporates very fast and creates metal fume fever(see the attached literature).
 
In addition the weld areas should be well ventilated. Following welding the welds could be  locally re-galvanized or  zinc containing paints could be applied on the weld and adjacent areas.
