[MW:7479] MW: 7428- Lean duplex

Hi Sudhakar,

Please find some references on Lean Duplex-2304 welding consumables from Avesta. There are not many manufacturers of Lean Duplex Products. Avesta has comprehensive choices. Lean Duplex lies midway between austenitic S.S alloys and Duplex stainless steel. It's a leaner version of conventional duplex alloys, e.e.g. 2205.

The other attachment from Metrode describes in details the pros and cons of welding of this alloy. Metrode's recommendation is on using Duplex -2209 consumables, which is higher alloyed and with better corrosion properties.

The selection of welding consumables would depend a lot on the intended use of this alloy(2304). If it's for chemical plant equipments and other related applications, matching 2304 consumables would suffice.

It the intended application is for any offshore oil ad gas installations then 2209 welding consumables would be preferred, simply due to the fact that the environment is far more demanding.

However consulting the consumable manufacturer with the intended design requirements would help you a lot in selection of the correct welding consumable.

Thanks.

Dear members,

I would like to get some inputs from all of u regarding Lean duplex steels (LDSS) 32304.
Mostly about welding of LDSS, selection of consumables and any important measures to be taken.
Highly appreciated if consumables brands are recommended.
