[MW:3212] Passivation of stainless steel parts

Gentleman,

We're working on our procedures based on ASTM A-380, but this standard
doesn't give us details about the "accept criteria" of passivation. I
know these specifications are demand of costumer, but i'd like to know
what's the mainly criterion suggested by you.

How can i know the passivation was well done? How can i ensure that
there's no residual acid on the surface? Visual inspection? Black
light inspection? Water-break testing a sample? Copper sulfate tests?
Ferroxyl tests?

Please send us your reccomendation. Send your passivation procedure if
you're allowed to.

Thks
Regards,
