You can weld cast iron to steel using  Nickel electrode. The higher the carbon content, the lesser the weld ability. ... Cast iron is difficult, stresses are very high in weld , care to be taken , to weld.
Nickle electrodes such as Nickle 99 can be used . Check for joint design . Kindly See ANSI/AWS-A-5.15 .
Welding on cast iron may involves some repairs .
