Hello Vinit,
If you're able to project the macrograph on a graduated screen, it's
relatively easy to calculate. It goes by the number of squares under the
weld bead and the penetrated layer into the base metal.
You may use the attached documents for guidance.
Thanks.
You

Subject: [MW:19079] Metallographic Image on weld overlay
Dear All,
As per ASME SEC IX requirement I have qualified weld overlay procedure for
alloy 625 , but my client requirement is also to carry out Metallographic
image for 5 % penetration check on weld overlay.
My query is how and where to check this 5% penetration because my lab.
Testing person is also not getting it.
Can anybody elaborate this.
Thanks,
Vinit
