Re: [MW:16928] Electrode coating

Once sided coating , also know as eccentric coating  is not accepted and to be rejected en-lot  as,

It produces uneven burning  resulting in porosity at times and slag (due to creation of undercuts) inclusions.
Uneven bead shape, spatters at times.

May  not produce radio graphic quality welds and repairing them is much more expensive.

You can swivel  the electrode to 180 deg. in the holder to check whether it burns less on the same side or not.
If not, correct the torch / travel  angle before before deciding the factor.

Dear Expert,

i have received some low hydrogen electrodes with damage coating (i.e. it is uneven like one side more coating and another side less), i want to know what will be the effect and it is acceptable or not.
