Actually metallography is a destructive test. How can anyone do metallography on main job or welding? For metallography you have to make a sample of welding or metal by cutting it and bring the sample to lab.
Besides, in this test the surface of sample is being etched by a weak acid! So something like corrosion occurs on the surface!
As a metallurgist I'm going to say that Metallography is a Destructive test.
