[MW:9906] Pneumatic chipping for Slag Removal - Peening

Dear All,

 

Reference UW-39 of ASME Sec.VIII Div.1 for Peening.

 

Query: Whether the pneumatic chipping for slag removal gives a peening effect?

 

There is an interpretation which only states that " Slag removal is not peening". I believe it gives a peening effect as there are continuos impact on the weld.

 

Have somebody came across similar situation or some body have an interpreation for this?
