Moin, Yes, It is mandatory to mention Weld Metal thickness in the WPS for each applicable process say GMAW and SAW. During your PQR qualification, in the Run-out sheet you can measure and record the bead Height for each pass and calculate the exact thickess for each process. Then the Qualified thickness is 2t according to QW451.1 which can be checked and measured in the actual production Joint. It is not required to mention the Lot number of the Flux/wire in the WPS. It can be controlled via another document giving the list of Lot numbers to be used for any particular job which requires special testing or control. But the Consumable certificate for the particular lot shall be available with the Welding Engineer and confimed its compliance according to ASME Sec.IIC + required additional testing. One reason why a separate document is used instead of mentioning in the WPS is if the Lot numbers are many, then there may be space constriction. Interpass temperature is the temperature between each pass. Since it is a Single pass, no Interpass temperature is applicable.

I have few question related to WPS, I am trying to check whether it complies to XI though I am not CSWIP certified or a welding engineer, appreciate if you could provide some information to me on the following 1- Is it mandatory to mention the qualified weld metal thickness on WPS, if yes what should be qualified weld metal thickness for a test coupon 9 mm thick and welded by GMAW and SAW process , should it be 2t as per table QW 451.1? How to find '' t'' before doping welding? 2- Is it mandatory to mention the lot number of flux& wire on the WPS, if No could you please provide me reason? 3- My understanding is if the welding is single pass than interpass temperature does not come into picture is it true?
