[MW:9968] minimum distance of Welding joint to joint - IBR PIPING

Can you suggest me What is minimum distance of Welding joint to joint on the IBR Piping?

 

My client suggested as 2.5XO.D.. This is correct or not.

 

Pls advised on the above and specify the code & clause.
